The International Journal of African Historical Studies (formerly: African Historical Studies) is devoted to the study of the African past. Articles in English on all aspects of Africa's history are welcome ‐ from prehistoric archaeology to the present problems of the continent, including interactions between Africa and the Afro-American peoples of the New World ‐ as long as they are based on historical research and framed in terms of historical analysis. The extensive book review section provides a thorough review of the current literature dealing with Africa's past.
