Overview

The Journal of Pharmacy Practice and Research is the official journal of the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA). It is owned, published by and copyrighted to SHPA. The Journal has complete editorial freedom in terms of content and is not under the direction of SHPA or its Council.

The editorial aim of the JPPR is on publishing high-quality evidence to promote excellence in medicines management for better health outcomes through leading edge practice and research.

The scope of the Journal is research and reviews on evaluations of current practice, innovations in medication management and developments in therapeutics and pharmaceutical science research that informs and improves practice.

The Journal is a platform for pharmacists and other clinicians, educators and policymakers with a focus on improving the safe and judicious use of medications.

The Journal supports this by providing a forum for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, commentary and professional opinion by publishing these categories of articles: systematic and narrative reviews original research, practice and case reports, geriatric therapeutics, editorials, standards of practice, letters to the editor, and more. All articles are peer-reviewed.

The Journal is managed by an Editor-in-Chief under direction from the Journal’s Editorial Advisory Board.

The Journal is published six times per year, and available via membership, subscription or purchase, with certain sections available to the community free online.

Readership

The Journal’s primary readership is pharmacists working in a variety of practice settings (including primary care, hospital, academia and industry), along with other clinicians and policymakers with a focus on medicines management, clinical practice and research. The Journal is distributed to all SHPA members and is available globally through various databases.
